Hot Maple Bacon Wrapped Scallops Recipe

#daa67f

Ingredients

  • 12 large sea scallops
  • 12 slices center-cut bacon
  • 12 toothpicks or small skewers (soaked in water for about 30 minutes)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp Maple Grove Farms Hot Maple Syrup
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Fresh chopped thyme

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Arrange the bacon on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, until the fat starts rendering but the slices are still flexible. Remove from oven and increase oven temperature to 425°F.
  3. While the bacon is cooking, prepare the glaze.
  4. Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat until bubbling. Cook 3 minutes or until butter begins to brown, it will have a nutty smell. Be careful not to burn the butter. Immediately stir in Maple Grove Farms Hot Maple Syrup, brown sugar, soy sauce and garlic. Simmer 1 minute then remove from heat.
  5. Pat the scallops very dry with a paper towel. Wrap each scallop with a slice of bacon, overlapping if needed. Secure with a toothpick.
  6. Arrange scallops on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 12 minutes, turning halfway, until bacon is crisp and scallops are just opaque. Generously brush scallops during the last 2 minutes of baking.
  7. To serve, arrange scallops on a serving platter and sprinkle with fresh thyme. Serve with the pan juices for dipping.
