Brown Bread French Toast Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 can B&M® Brown Bread with Raisins
- 3 large eggs
- ½ C. milk
- ¼ C. heavy cream
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 tsp. Spice Islands® Pure Vanilla Extract
- ½ tsp. Spice Islands® Ground Saigon Cinnamon
- 1-2 Tbsp. butter
Directions
- Remove the bread from the can and cut 8 slices.
- Toast the slices until lightly crisp on the outside.
- While bread toasts, in a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon until well blended.
- Once bread is ready, place the slices in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread.
- Allow the bread to soak in the mixture, turning each slice over once or twice. You want the bread to absorb a lot of liquid but not become too soggy to pick up. Discard any remaining egg mixture.
- Meanwhile, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the slices of bread and cook for 2 minutes. Flip and cook an additional 2 minutes on the other side. Remove from the pan.
- If working in batches, melt more butter before adding more slices.
- Serve warm with fresh fruit, syrup and whipped cream, if desired.
