Maple Kissed Pumpkin Spice Sweet Rolls

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon package yeast
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Grove Farms Maple Syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup cooked pumpkin puree
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon pumpki pie spice
  • 1 cup white wheat flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1 /34 - 2 1/4 cups white all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup walnut halvves
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Grove Farms Maple Syrup
  • 3/4 cup confectioners 10 x sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cream/milk, 2 tablespoons Maple Grove Farms Maple Syrup
DIRECTIONS:
In a large bread mixing bowl add the water, sugar and yeast together and stir until bubbly. Mix in the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, egg, pumpkin and spice. Using a large spoon or dough whisk, combine and add the wheat flour and the salt. Add 1 cup of the flour and mix - keep adding flour until dough pulls together in a ball. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead gently 3-4 minutes. Smooth into a soft ball and let rest while you wash and grease your bowl. Knead again for 3-4 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic and no longer sticky. (A poked in finger should spring back). Return dough to greased bowl and let set 1 1/2 - 2 hours to rise until double in bulk.

While dough is rising prepare filling. Grind the nuts and add to the sugar and spice in a small bowl. Mix the softened butter and maple syrup together and set aside. Grease a 9 inch square or round baking dish.

When the dough has finished rising punch down (gently) and return it to the floured board. Roll out dough into a 9 x 12 inch rectangle. Using a pastry brush baste the dough with the butter - syrup mixture. Then cover with the nut mixture. Roll up the rectangle so you end up with a 12 inch roll. Divide the roll in half and half again. Cut each peice into 3 pieces to yield 12 rolls. Place the rolls in the greased pan cut side up. Cover an let rise for 45 minutes.

Place baking dish in cold oven @ 400 degrees. Rolls will finish rising while the oven heats. Bake for 15 minutes and lower temperature to 350 degrees. Bake another 20-25 minutes - checking for donneness.

Remove from oven and loosen sides. Invert a large plate over top and flip allowing for buns to drop onto plate. Cool.

Mix the confectioners' sugar, milk and maple syrup and coat when cool for a white glaze.
